Junior Business Intelligence Engineer (0-1 YOE)

Fully Remote (preference in St. Louis or Detroit)

12+ Month Contract to Hire

Brooksource is searching for an Associate Business Intelligence Engineer to join our Fortune 50 Health Insurance partner to support their claims operations groups. As a BI Engineer, you will work with internal business units to integrate claims workflow systems from the enterprise data warehouse, implement this data utilizing ETL processes into a data visualization toolset, and utilize Power BI to produce data reports. This position is through Brooksource’s Elevate Program, and will include additional technical training including, but not limited to: Snowflake, Power BI, SQL, Python, JAVA, Teradata, etc.

The Associate Business Intelligence Engineer in this role will experience a dynamic team environment and the opportunity to grow into technology areas within the organization. Our client follows Product Oriented Delivery methodologies (PODs), and you’ll have the opportunity to work within varying pods based on skillsets and subject matter expertise.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with business users from Claims Operations groups to gather necessary requirements for business requests tied to claims and providers
  • Utilize ETL tools to pull data from the EDW (Enterprise Data Warehouse)
  • Integrate claims workflow systems into a Power BI Data Set
  • Utilize Power BI to produce data visualizations to assist business units in their requests
  • Participate in guided mentorship from senior level team members and management in the EDW environment
  • Receive hands on training that can be used to improve skillsets in the following areas: Snowflake, Power BI, SQL, Python, JAVA, Teradata

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in CS, MIS, or any related field)
  • Strong background and core coursework in SQL Development/relational database proficiency
  • Strong background with Power BI (or other relevant data visualization tools)
  • SSIS/SSRS, Queries, views, stored procedures, triggers,
  • Experience utilizing ETL processes – specific toolset is Talend
  • Exposure/Understanding of Snowflake
  • Proficiency within JAVA stack (translates well to ETL processes)
  • Strong experience in data visualization and running data reports (Client utilizes Power BI)
  • Knowledge of SCRUM and AGILE methodologies
  • Strong coding and troubleshooting skills
